The trip included a personalized land tour in Italy, a 7-day cruise (Italy, Greece, Turkey), an 8-day escorted land tour of Greece and a personalized tour to Santorini and Milos.I initially tried a well-known national travel agency by visiting their office. When I told them I was planning an extensive trip that would take a lot of planning and I was starting early to compare my options, they realized I was a year out from booking and showed me the door with a few brochures in-hand.I then found Crystal Travel by looking for local private San Antonio travel agents. I told Patti my same story; instead of balking, she welcomed the discussion. She guided me through my travel and accommodation options and made spot on recommendations of who to go with and who to avoid.Her biggest recommendation was to use Tours by Locals, which she coordinated with for our private tours. Although private tours may be more expensive, you can tailor them, move quicker, eat at more quaint-quiet restaurants, and ask detailed questions. Also, you can pick your local licensed experts; many have advanced degrees. We shared the expense of our shore excursions with our traveling companions; the cost per person was less then the per person rate on the cruise sponsored excursions.Although the title to this review is “A Priceless Trip”, it obviously cost a bit since it covered four weeks to a lot of destinations. However, my wife and I would not change one single item on our trip agenda. It exceeded expectation; it was a trip of a lifetime! Patti was there guiding us all they way making recommendations based on our input and questions and making bookings for us. Job well done Patti!
